Hi, I’m Ellie – founder of E.H Education.

I didn’t grow up dreaming of becoming a teacher. In fact, I found school extremely difficult. My childhood ambition was to join the police force, which led me to study Criminology at university in Newcastle. But in 2014, everything changed.

While volunteering at a local SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school, something clicked. The classroom felt like where I was meant to be. I quickly realised I had a passion for helping children feel seen, supported, and capable – especially those who didn’t fit the mould. That experience completely shifted my path.

After completing my degree, I was offered a job at the school and went on to qualify as a teacher in 2016, achieving ‘Outstanding’ status. I stayed in Newcastle until the pandemic, when I made the decision to return home to York. There, I worked in a small rural village school before welcoming my first daughter in 2021.

Since then, I’ve run my own tutoring business, returned to mainstream teaching, stepped into alternative provision, and in March 2024, I had my second daughter. Throughout all of these chapters, one thing has remained constant: my frustration with the current education system and my drive to do things differently.

Despite the dedication of many teachers and schools, our national curriculum is outdated. It doesn’t meet the needs of most children — and I knew I couldn’t continue working within a system I don’t believe in.

But I can support those navigating it.

That’s why I created E.H Education — a learning experience that’s supportive, inclusive, innovative, and flexible. A place where children feel safe and valued. A space where we can work together to give every child the best chance to thrive — in and beyond the classroom.
