Your Questions Answered
How many children are in each group?
We keep our groups small, with a maximum of 4 children per group. This allows us to give each child plenty of individual attention and support while still benefiting from learning alongside others.
Do you offer a trial session?
Yes! We offer a one-off trial session at 50% of the usual cost, giving your child the opportunity to experience a session before committing to a regular place.
Do sessions run during the school holidays?
Our regular timetable runs term-time only. However, we offer revision sessions before exam and assessment periods, as well as summer sessions designed to help prevent learning regression and keep children engaged throughout the holidays.
How do you place children into groups?
We take great care when creating our groups. After speaking with parents, we consider each child's age, school year group, ability and personality.
Our aim is to create groups where children feel comfortable, happy and confident, while also ensuring that everyone can learn effectively together.
Can we join partway through a term?
Yes! If there is availability in a suitable session, you're very welcome to join partway through the term. Fees will simply be adjusted accordingly.
What happens if my child needs to miss a session due to sickness or a holiday?
Our sessions are paid for upfront, and unfortunately we are unable to offer refunds for sessions that your child is unable to attend.
However, we will always do our best to accommodate your child in a suitable additional session on an alternative day, where availability allows.
How do I book a place?
Simply get in touch with us through our contact form or by email. We'll confirm availability and let you know the next steps to secure your child's place.
How does your pricing work?
We ask parents to pay upfront on a half-termly basis.
For families who are claiming costs back through Universal Credit, we can also offer a monthly payment option.
I'm worried my child won't like their group. What happens if they don't settle?
We completely understand this concern. Creating our groups is a very strategic process, and we take it seriously.
We carefully consider each child's age, ability and personality when placing them into a group. We would never add a child to a group if we didn't feel it was in everyone's best interests.
Our priority is for every child to feel happy, comfortable and confident in their learning environment.
Does my child need to bring anything to their session?
No! We have a fully equipped learning space with lots of enriching resources, so there is no need for your child to bring anything with them.
Can my child bring a snack?
Absolutely. Children are welcome to have a snack during their session if they need one.
We simply ask that all snacks are nut-free.
Can my child walk home on their own?
Children in Year 5 and above are able to walk home independently following their session, provided we have received parental consent.
Will we receive updates on how our child is doing?
We don't provide formal written progress reports as standard. However, we're always happy to discuss your child's progress and let you know how they are getting on whenever you have questions or concerns.
My child is struggling with a specific topic. Can this be covered during their session?
Absolutely. Just let Ellie know about any particular areas your child is struggling with, and we'll pass this information on to the appropriate tutor.
We can then incorporate the relevant topics into your child's sessions to provide additional support where it's needed most.
What is covered in the group sessions?
Our Primary sessions generally cover a mixture of Maths and Literacy skills.
From Year 6, Maths and Literacy are covered across two separate sessions, allowing us to give each subject the focus and time it deserves.
We work on tricky topics, identify and bridge gaps in learning, and incorporate pre-teaching wherever possible. This helps children feel more prepared and confident when they encounter new topics in the classroom.
Do you offer 1:1 sessions?
We offer a limited number of 1:1 sessions on Saturday mornings. If you're specifically looking for 1:1 tuition, you're very welcome to join our waiting list.
We also offer 1:1 sessions during the school day for children who are struggling to access education and require more individualised support.
Can I stay with my child during their session?
We encourage parents to leave their children during sessions where possible. We are a lovely but small setting, so unfortunately we don't have enough space to accommodate parents staying throughout sessions.
However, we completely understand that some children may need a little extra reassurance when they first start. If your child needs you to stay for the first few minutes while they settle, that's absolutely fine.
