Building Strong Foundations for GCSE Maths

Our Key Stage 3 Maths sessions are designed to support students through Years 7, 8 and 9, helping them build a strong mathematical foundation before beginning their GCSE journey. These years are an important opportunity to secure core skills, address gaps in understanding and develop the confidence needed to tackle increasingly challenging mathematics.

Sessions follow the school curriculum, allowing us to reinforce topics covered in school, revisit areas students have found difficult and prepare them for what comes next. We can also use feedback from parents and students to identify particular areas where additional support would be beneficial, ensuring sessions are targeted to individual needs.

Alongside developing mathematical knowledge, we focus on helping students understand how and why different methods work, rather than simply learning procedures. Students have opportunities to practise problem-solving, apply their knowledge to a range of questions and develop the resilience and confidence to tackle unfamiliar problems.

Our aim is to ensure students enter GCSE Maths with secure foundations, fewer gaps in their knowledge and greater confidence in their mathematical ability. Whether a student needs additional support to keep up with their peers, wants to consolidate their learning or is ready to be challenged further, our Key Stage 3 sessions provide a supportive environment where they can develop the skills and understanding needed to thrive in the years ahead.
